Strategy games you can finish before your bus stop

Strategy on mobile has a reputation for being slow, sprawling, and full of timers designed to nag you. But there's a growing set of games that deliver real tactical bite in bite-sized chunks, and those are the ones I keep on my phone.

Iron Frontier Command is my current favorite for this. Each mission is a self-contained puzzle of unit placement and reaction, short enough for a break but tense enough to matter. You win or lose in a few minutes, and either way you learn something for the next run.

The key is mission length. A good mobile strategy game breaks its challenge into pieces you can actually finish, so you get that clean sense of completion instead of a nagging 'come back later' popup. That structure is what makes it stick.

If you like thinking but hate committing an evening, look for games built around single encounters or short campaigns. They'll respect your time and still scratch the tactical itch.
