Embertide Chronicles

Embertide Chronicles is a proper RPG that respects your time on a phone. Battles are turn-based and quick, but there's real depth in how you build your party and time your abilities. We ended up rerolling one character's whole skill tree twice because the game rewards experimenting instead of punishing it.

The writing carried us further than we expected. Choices in conversations ripple out later, sometimes closing off a quest, sometimes opening a new one. It's not epic in scale, but it's personal and well-paced, and the save-anywhere design means you can play a single scene on a break.

Combat can get a touch repetitive in the mid-game, and grinding a level or two before a boss is sometimes the easiest path. Still, for a mobile RPG the writing and party building put it near the top of our list.
