Strategy
Iron Frontier Command
★★★★☆ 4.3
Iron Frontier Command asks you to hold a line with limited units, and it's the thinking that makes it click. You place defenders, react to waves, and reposition on the fly. There's no giant base to micromanage, just tight, tense encounters where one bad placement costs you a mission.
We liked that it rewards planning over speed. Pause the action, look at what's coming, adjust, and let it play out. The upgrade system is restrained enough that you can't just brute-force your way through, so you're always weighing choices.
The campaign difficulty jumps up sharply about a third of the way in, which caught us off guard. Once we adapted, though, it became the best kind of strategy game: the one that makes you feel clever when a plan finally works.
What we liked
- Tense, focused encounters
- Rewards planning over reflexes
- Restrained upgrades keep it fair
